BURT'S BLOG

In Tapanila, Mosabacka, making the Ultramariini -remixHi! I'm Burt Mosabacharach, newly appointed producer and mascot for Viola. As the other two boys in the band are a bit shy, they asked me - a monkey known for being quite keen in expressing his opinions both personal and universal - to communicate my feelings and observations of our shared moments to the rest of the world - you, my dear readers!

I'll also try to keep bringing my camera along as often as possible, but being the self-centered (yet lovable!) monkey I am, I will probably be mostly posting pictures of yours truly in this blog, yet rest assured, I'll try to include my friends in the pictures as often as possible as well.

Anyway, here's my blog. I hope you'll enjoy it!

Rough times with some rough dudes

Hey kiddies!

Haven't written anything in a long time. Sorry about that, but you know how it goes: monkey see, monkey do - and I'm a monkey who's constantly in "do"-mode, so all these virtua-duties sometimes fall unattended. But don't for a moment think I've forgotten about you, darlings!

I just wanted to take a moment to tell you of an adventure I had last weekend with Tommi, Riku, Henkka and the wild boyz also known as Black Audio. We were scheduled to play in Oulu and Raahe on Thursday and Friday respectively and we started on the long ride north at 6 am on Thursday morning. Everything went smoothly (although we didn't get to see the bear that was running around Hämeenlinna that morning!) all the way until about 600 kilometers into our trip, our left rear tire probably saw something very very interesting in the nearby field, decided to go all anarchist on us and just ran for it. The only problem was that we were doing something like 80 km/h at the moment, and the tire didn't bother to check the oncoming lane, so it hit an elderly couple's car on the way out.

At this point I need to release the suspense: nobody was hurt in the incident, apart from motor vehicles and their parts. All that ensued were some rather chaotic seconds as we realised our car had lost all of its maneuverability and a tedious hour and a half as we waited for the cops and the tow-truck.

The story of our little escapade with cars, all-night drives and such could go on for quite some time, so I'll spare you with the details and hop on to the good part: The gigs in Raahe and Oulu were so very nice that all 8 of us totally forgot about all these unpleasantries in no time flat. Oulu we knew to be great from previous occasions, but Raahe was a total surprise. We had prepared to play to a handful of uninterested people, but instead we were treated to a veritable par-tayy. Oh boy, it's the best when you go to a new place with very low expectations and you get more than you could ever hope for. Raahe, you haven't seen the last of us.

And about those Black Audio -dudes. Aren't they just the cutest? Well, yes they are. The only thing better than touring, is touring with good people and we didn't just get good people this time, we got the best.

I'm just bummed I didn't bring my monkey cam with me this time, so I have no pictorial proof of these events. Silly me.

Ok, we're off to Tampere today. Tomorrow's Helsinki and on Friday, Turku. Hope to see y'all there.

Monkey-hugs and monkey-kisses.

Burt
