Melancholydisco 2 out soon, no kiddin'!
Hey friends!
Sorry for the long silence and lack of apparent activity. The truth is twofold: on one hand we've been working like crazy to finish the little brother of Melancholydisco, but then again, summer was kinda quiet for us, as we tend to take July completely off Viola activity and this year was no different.
For the first time in Viola-history, we didn't set any kind of concrete release date for a record and it seems like that just doesn't suit our way of working as we're just the kind of dudes who have a hard time calling something finished, unless deadlines tell us it's finished, so here we are...
Anyways, Melancholydisco 2 is almost finished and I already made a promise in the If Society newsletter that it will be out before Christmas, so there you have it.
Like last time, the record will feature four brand new original Viola-tracks + 6 cool remixes by friends of ours. Remix-artists this time 'round include names such as Regina, I Was A Teenage Satan Worshipper, hannulelauri, Black Audio, Videovalvontaa and Kiwa (or JS666, whatever he'll be called this time...) and we're super excited about our own stuff as well, so hopefully we'll be able to match the surprisingly high quality of the last Melancholydisco, which in retrospect is almost my favorite Viola-release so far!
So, thanks for your patience. We'll try to play some live shows as well later this fall after we get this little thing done!
As soon as we've got some stuff all done, we'll upload an mp3 for you to hear. We're really anxious to get this stuff out there. Actually the dudes in hannulelauri already put their remix on their MySpace, so if you want a sneak preview of what's to come, check it out: hannulelauri MySpace.
(Also, I'm playing drums occationally in the hannulelauri live setup every now and then and I'm sure if you like Viola, you'll probably like hannulelauri as well, so come check it out if we're at a venue near you!)
